Journal prompts
“I don’t know what I think until I write it down.”
— Joan Didion
There can be many benefits to journaling. Writing can help to relieve stress, offer a new perspective, and create space to process emotions. Check out this article to learn more.
If you’re new to journaling and curious to try, I’ve included some prompts to get you started. Before you get going, think about your setup what you need, and where and when to write. For me that means laying things out the night before and writing in the morning, a cup of coffee and a candle nearby, my favorite journal and pen inviting me to take a seat.

Mindful Minute - Make a list….
5 things that you are grateful for
3 things that will make today great and one mini goal- “Today I will…”
5 senses - focusing on each sense (smell, taste, touch, hear, see) one at a time, write down what you notice in this present moment.
Get curious - Notice Emotions…
Pull up the feeling wheel. What emotions do you notice are present for you at this moment? Write a list of them…remind yourself that all feelings are valid and welcomed.
Perhaps consider how they show up for you. Do you feel them in your body? Is there a word or image that comes up with this emotion? Get curious about why this emotion is present for you right now.
Let it flow-Free Write ….
Set a timer for 10 minutes and without stopping to think, just let whatever comes up fill your page. Don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or handwriting. This allows you to have an outlet for your inner thoughts, be in the present moment, and have space to connect internally.
